After 14 years since Megamind, the iconic blue-skinned villain is set to return to the screen. Peacock and DreamWorks Animation announced that they will launch two new productions, a movie sequel and a series.

Megamind Rules! will have eight episodes of 22 minutes each. Meanwhile, Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate, follows the protagonist in his new life as the protector of Metro City, facing new challenges.

When will Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate be released?

Megamind vs. The Doom Syndicate is the upcoming sequel to the villain that marks his return after more than 10 years of absence. The movie has already found a home in streaming and will be added to the Peacock catalog on Friday, March 1.

The story follows the newly crowned blue hero, who must maintain evil appearances until he can gather his friends (Roxanne, Ol’ Chum, and Keiko) to prevent his former evil companions, The Doom Syndicate, from launching Metro City to the moon.

Despite the franchise expanding, there have been several changes within its team and cast. Will Ferrell will not be present as Megamind; this time, Keith Ferguson will lend his voice to the character in the film.

He will be joined by prominent figures, including Scott Adsit, Adam Lambert, Laura Post, Josh Brener, Tony Hale, Jeanine Mason, Chris Sullivan, Emily Tunon, Maya Aoki Tuttle and Talon Warburton, among others.

The upcoming animated production of evil adventures was directed by Eric Fogel, based on a script developed by Alan Schoolcraft and Brent Simons, who were responsible for writing the original idea for the first installment.

When is Megamind Rules! released?

Megamind Rules! will follow the movie and will premiere on the same day, making its grand debut on the Peacock catalog on Friday, March 1, 2024. So, there’s less than a month to discover the new adventures of the villain with a noble heart.

According to CBR and the streaming platform itself, the series will have an initial season of eight episodes, each with a duration of 22 minutes. Explicit details about the plot are still a mystery.

Eric Fogel spoke just a few days ago with TV Kids Festival about the new series that expands the world of Megamind. He revealed that in the movie, the character will have to learn to trust his friends and work as a team, while in the series, he must prevent an old nemesis from the past from ruining everything he has built.

The film will conclude with the appearance of a nefarious character from Megamind’s past, Machia Villain, who will be responsible for making life difficult for the new hero, as his goal is to bring him back to the world of villainy.

According to the director, “the series slowly builds on this tension, and the stakes get higher and higher as it becomes a kind of real rollercoaster ride to the big finale“.
