Luke Newton is leading Season 3 of Netflix’s hit period drama “Bridgerton” as Colin, a role for which he has earned worldwide recognition. However, the series is not the only one of his credits to become a global hit on streaming, as one of his early titles, “Lake Placid: Legacy” is also trending on Paramount+.
According to FlixPatrol, a specialized website that collects viewership data, the film is currently (as of June 5) the most watched on the platform globally, surpassing the thriller “Finestkind.” However, “Lake Placid: Legacy” isn’t available to stream in the US on Paramount+. If you wish to watch it, you have to buy it or rent it on Amazon Prime Video, Youtube, Google Play and more.

“Lake Placid: Legacy” is part of the natural horror franchise “Lake Placid,” which started back in 1999 with the film of the same name directed by Steve Miner. The franchise was created by David E. Kelley. Here’s what to know about this sequel.
‘Lake Placid: Legacy,’ the horror thriller triumphing on Paramount+
Directed by Darrell Roodt, the film stars Katherine Barrell, Tim Rozon, Sai Bennett and Joe Pantoliano. It originally premiered on Syfy in 2018, and, as the rest of the franchise, revolves around the presence of giant, 30-foot-long man-eating crocodiles in the fictional location of Black Lake, Maine.
“Legacy” is the first one of the films that don’t reference members of the fictitious Bickerman family. Being the sixth installment of the franchise, “Legacy” tells its own story of how the crocodiles end up in Lake Placid. The movie was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa.
The original film of the franchise starred Bill Pullman and Betty White, and it was produced by Fox 2000 Pictures and Stan Winston Studios. It grossed $56.9 million worldwide, and it received mixed reviews.
Apart from “Lake Placid: Legacy,” Newton is known for starring in the Disney Channel series “The Lodge,” as well as having minor roles in series like “Doctors.” He also starred in last year’s stage revival of “The Shape of Things” alongside Amber Anderson.
