From the “Sharknado” film series to “47 Meters Down,” these creatures have remained prominent figures in the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/horror">horror</a> genre.



However, despite numerous attempts, both audiences and critics have long claimed that no picture has matched the masterpiece created by the director of “The Fabelmans.” Well, it looks like that perception changed just 24 hours ago.



“Sharks,” directed by the filmmaker behind “Hitman,” is <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix’s</a> entry in the shark movie genre. Quickly climbing to the top spot on the platform worldwide, it appears the streamer has hit its mark once again. The title has been lauded by both the public and critics, praised for reviving classic shark tropes. And once again, we’re left pondering the same question we did in 1975: How much of it is real?



<h2>Is ‘Under Paris’ based on real events?</h2>



In the film, it’s the summer of 2024, and Paris is hosting the World Triathlon Championships for the first time, taking place in the Seine. Suddenly, Sophia, a unique and brilliant scientist, discovers a very large shark swimming deep in the river and must do everything she can to prevent a disaster.

Although the production isn’t explicitly based on a true story, an almost identical incident to that depicted in it occurred in 2022 when a porbeagle shark, a species that typically inhabits colder waters, was found in the Seine River near Rouen.



And there are many other similar cases, since “Under Paris” aims to highlight the very common environmental contamination processes that force species to leave their native habitats. In the picture, Lilith, the protagonist shark, arrives in France’s most important river after pollution makes her home uninhabitable, echoing situations like the real-life case of a great white shark that ended up in the Hudson River in 1933.



So, while there isn’t a real-life scientist like Sophia who tried to stop a shark from causing a bloodbath in the Seine during a swimming competition, the movie draws inspiration from many real events.

Within only a day on the platform, the documentary series ‘Hitler and the Nazis: Evil on Trial’ has become one of the trending titles on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix</a>. According to FlixPatrol, as of June 6th, the show is the sixth most watched globally, and the seventh most watched in the US.



The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/series">series</a> was directed by the veteran documentarian Joe Berlinger, who is known for titles such as “Paradise Lost” and “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster,” as well as the popular true-crime shows like “Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich” and the “Conversations With a Killer” series.



The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/documentary">documentary</a> is directed to younger audiences, which might not be too familiar with World War II lore. Actually, according to a 2020 state-by-state survey conducted by the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany (and cited by Times), 63% of American millennials and Gen Z do not know that 6 million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust.



<h2>Belinger explains ‘Evil on Trial’ and why it’s important</h2>



“This is the right time to retell this story for a younger generation as a cautionary tale,” Belinger told in a promotional material. “In America, we are in the midst of our own reckoning with democracy, with authoritarianism knocking at the door and a rise in antisemitism,” he added.



Overall, Berlinger hopes the docu-series will convey to younger viewers worldwide that “democracy is fragile,” while also helping them identify authoritarian tendencies in government figures and politicians. The series also tackles how propaganda and dehumanization can make “normal people can do horrific things,” in the words of the director.

One of the innovative ways the series tells the WWII story, is mixing interviews with academics and archival footage with reenactments of key moments of the War. 



Apart from the reenactments, journalist William L. Shirer is the series’ (unofficial) narrator, despite having died in 1993, due to an A.I. recreation of his voice that recites passages from his many books about the period. However, sometimes his real voice is used with excerpts of broadcasts and interviews.



The series has received mostly positive reviews, with The Chicago Sun Times giving it 3.5 stars out of four, and describing it as a “riveting and essential” documentary, while Joel Keller of Decider says that the director “does a good job of making a powerful case that the conditions that gave us the horrific atrocities that Hitler and the Nazis committed can very easily happen again.”

According to FlixPatrol, a specialized website that collects viewership data, the film is currently the sixth most-watched worldwide (as of June 6th). The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> was directed by Giovanni Bognetti, who is known for other titles such as “I, babysitter” and “Il mammone.”



The film is also a sequel to “The Price of Family,” which was also directed by Bognetti, and was one of the most streamed films of 2022. The director also wrote the script for “The Price of Nonna’s Inheritance,” an absurdist <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/comedy">comedy</a> that has definitely enchanted audiences.



<h2>‘The Price of Nonna’s Inheritance’: What to expect from this comedy</h2>



The movie follows the Delle Family, who are all together for a trip in Menorca. However, when their Grandma falls for a cheeky suitor Nunzio, whom they don’t trust at all and is ready to marry her, the rest of the family then make a plan to protect their grandma (and her substantial inheritance): murder the suspicious groom.



Driven by greed, they embark on their foolish murder attempt, leading to even more chaotic wedding-related misadventures. Veteran actor and director Christian De Sica, Angela Finocchiaro, Dharma Mangia Woods and Claudio Colica star in the film.

While there aren’t many reviews yet, the ones that are available are mixed. For Veronica Loop of Martin Cid Magazine, the movie “is reminiscent of the humorous blend of traditional values and macabre elements, similar to the 1944 classic ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’,” and she praised the “intelligent dialogues” and “unusual twist,” as well as the performances.



However, other reviewers, such as Tarashi Patali from The Feast of Legends, says that the film “starts with a promising premise of a family in chaos, but the humor falls flat due to the nonsensical plot and unlikeable characters.”
