“A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is finally here! But not for everyone. The full series premiered on July 1 on BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom, but it will be released one month later, on August 1, on Netflix in the United States.

American fans are understandably anxious! Not only are they excited to see Holly Jackson‘s book brought to life, but they also wonder if the rest of the novels in the series will be adapted for the small screen.

We already have a clue about this. In a recent interview with Hatch Magazine, Zain Iqbal discussed the show’s future possibilities. Here are all the details.

All on the second season of ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’

First of all, note that the novel that covers the first season is “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” but Jackson also wrote other three installments: “Good Girl, Bad Blood,” “As Good As Dead,” and “Kill Joy.” In a recent interview, Zain Iqbal made it clear that for the first season of the production, he only needed to read the first book.

Additionally, in a recent Instagram Q&A, he was asked if he had already read the second book. He said no and mentioned that he still couldn’t recover from the first one. This confirms that, although it was hinted by other cast members that the first season touches on some topics from the other books, it is solely based on the first novel.

Furthermore, Hatc Magazine stated that if the show receives high viewership in its first episodes, a second season is assured. This was also confirmed by executive producers Matthew Read and Frith Tiplady in an interview with Variety in October 2023. Given the anticipation, it’s clear the title will top charts in the United States and worldwide, making a second part %100 certain.

Moreover, Netflix has a history of greenlighting additional seasons for successful book adaptations, as seen with “Bridgerton” and “Heartstopper.” Even though “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” is a co-production with Moonage Pictures, ZDFneo, and Stan, it is highly probable that Netflix will push for upcoming installments to be released as quickly as possible.

As for when the second season might premiere, it often depends on the cast’s availability. For instance, “Bridgerton” was released over two years due to its A-list cast’s busy schedules, while “Heartstopper,” featuring mostly newcomers, had anual seasons. Given this pattern, “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder” Season 2 will probably be released by mid or late 2025.
