We all love a good thriller packed with drama, and Netflix knows it well. Following the success of its 2021 Thai series “Bangkok Breaking,” the streamer has released a movie sequel, “Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell,” which is currently ranking high worldwide, according to FlixPatrol.
In this follow-up, we return to Wanchai, the iconic paramedic who now loses his job after disobeying orders to flee during a protest at the Ruamjai housing projects, instead choosing to help the injured. Working as a food delivery driver, his life takes a drastic turn when he gets caught up in a kidnapping.
With its soaring viewership, fans are already speculating about a potential third installment to continue Wanchai’s adventures. Here’s everything we know about the future of “Bangkok Breaking.” Warning: spoilers ahead!
Is ‘Bangkok Breaking 3’ happening? All that is known
The truth is, the ending of “Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell” doesn’t necessarily suggest a third installment. Things turn out well for Wanchai, and it’s clear he will continue saving lives, but the open-ended conclusion doesn’t point to a specific mission for him in the future.
In contrast, the series finale left room for a second part, which led to the movie sequel. Based on this, it seems unlikely that title will become a trilogy. However, given the huge viewership the picture has attracted, Netflix might consider extending the franchise.
Additionally, director Kome Kongkiat Komesiri has a history of creating multi-part stories, as seen with “Art of the Devil 3” and “Khun Pan 3,” both of which reached at least three installments. If “Bangkok Breaking: Heaven and Hell” continues to chart highly worldwide, it wouldn’t be surprising if Komesiri considers a continuation.
As for a potential release date for a third part, the “Bangkok Breaking” movie was released three years after the series debuted in 2021. Given Komesiri’s busy schedule and his tendency to space installments by at least two years, we could expect a similar timeline for any future release. More specifically, in 2026 or 2027.
