The Wages of Fear has been climbing various tops within Netflix‘s most-watched movies ranking, and after just over a week, it has become the No. 1 worldwide within the catalog.

The action thriller is a remake of a classic Franco-Italian film from 1953, which was directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot. The new version was helmed by Julien Leclercq, who is known for the series Braqueurs.

The story follows a team of experts who undertake a dangerous journey through the desert with a load of nitroglycerin, in order to save hundreds of people from the explosion of an oil well.

The Wages of Fear has not only become the biggest trend on Netflix, but with just one week since its release, it is the most-watched movie on the platform worldwide, surpassing other major titles.

According to the metrics specialized site Flix Patrol, the production has claimed the top spot in the Top 10 and has surpassed the action thriller Heart of the Hunter with Bonko Khoza and the Polish romantic comedy No Pressure.

The drama is known for its intensity and suspense, as well as its raw portrayal of human desperation and psychological tension. It contains an oppressive and claustrophobic atmosphere that envelops both the characters and the viewer alike.
