The metrics-specialized site reported that the title not only managed to enter the Top 10 but also displaced “Dune” featuring Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar Isaac, among other A-list stars.
The story follows a group of young American tourists who decide to venture into Mayan ruins in Mexico after meeting a German tourist looking for his brother. Once in the ruins, they discover that a lethal vine covers the structure, facing an unknown and terrifying threat.
The movie presents a unique and disturbing menace: a vine that essentially becomes aware and acts aggressively towards any entity that approaches. This deadly plant becomes the primary antagonist, creating an atmosphere of horror and desperation.
Although there are some differences in the film adaptation compared to the novel, overall, the narrative closely follows the events and intense atmosphere created by Scott Smith in his original work.
