Netflix has once again refreshed its worldwide Top 10, and a thriller about natural disasters has managed to dominate the ranking, becoming the most-watched on the platform just four days after its release. Here, check it all out.

Netflix has been producing several films and series within the disaster genre, so it’s no surprise that The Abyss is the new most-watched feature movie on the platform worldwide and Top 3 in the United States.

The Swedish production attracted audiences seeking excitement, suspense and action, with a plot starring Tuva Novotny that explores catastrophic events like earthquakes.

Richard Holm directed the thriller, originally released in 2023 and now trending once again. Robin Sherlock Holm wrote the story, which was adapted for the screen by Nicola Sinclair and the filmmaker.

The Abyss ranked No. 1 on Netflix worldwide

The Abyss is the new dramatic/thriller film that has become a worldwide trend on Netflix and has managed to claim the title of the most-watched, surpassing “Einstein and the Bomb”, the documentary about the world’s most popular scientist.

According to the specialized site Flix Patrol, the film currently holds the number one spot in the worldwide Top 10, while in the United States, it ranks third, surpassing the rom-com “Players”.

The story follows Frigga, who tries to balance her risky job as the security head in the Kiirunavaara mine with her family life and must fight for her life and the lives of her loved ones when her city begins to collapse in the mine.

Tuva Novotny portrays the main character, accompanied by several other well-known actors, including Felicia Maxime, Kardo Razzazi, Peter Franzén, Edvin Ryding, Tintin Poggats Sarri and Casper Berglund, among others.
