Netflix has once again refreshed its Top 10, and now it’s a slasher-style horror drama that has become the most-watched movie in the United States. Patrick Dempsey is back on screen with this thrilling and bloody story.

Eli Roth directed the film based on a screenplay written by the filmmaker himself and Jeff Rendell, who handled the adaptation. Despite the thriller being released in 2023, it has become a trend once again.

The actor who portrayed Derek Shepherd in Grey’s Anatomy brings Sheriff Eric Newlon to life in the project based on Roth’s fictional trailer of the same name from the 2007 film Grindhouse, marking the third installment.

According to the specialized site Flix Patrol, the horror film has surpassed several successful productions on the platform, such as Players with Gina Rodriguez and the documentary Lover, Stalker, Killer.

The new number 1 title is based on the Grindhouse thriller and is the third feature film adaptation of a fictional thriller, following Robert Rodriguez‘s Machete and Jason Eisener‘s Hobo with a Shotgun.

It was released during the holiday season in 2023, and its main character has stood out as the slasher of the year. In popularity, it managed to surpass notable productions like Talk To Me with Sophie Wilde and Miranda Otto.

“After the Black Friday riots end in tragedy, a mysterious killer inspired by Thanksgiving terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts, the birthplace of the infamous holiday”, describes its official synopsis, according to IMDb.

The movie incorporates all the essential elements of a quality slasher, effectively incorporating elements such as the presence of teenagers, shocking bloody sequences, a solid plot and a well-constructed backstory.

Patrick Dempsey portrays Sheriff Eric Newlon, while Ty Olsson plays Mitch Collins. The main cast is quite extensive, including actors such as Gina Gershon, Karen Cliche, Rick Hoffman, Derek McGrath and Nell Verlaque.
