Netflix: Thai horror movie 'Death Whisperer' occupies the Top 9 worldwide

Foreign supernatural films are back on trend, and this time, a Thai production has ranked eighth in the worldwide Top 10 on Netflix. Check out the details here.

The Top 10 on Netflix worldwide is not only made up of comedies and original films, like What Jennifer Did and The Tearsmith, but also includes multiple foreign productions and this week, a Thai thriller has been added.

The horror film was directed by Taweewat Wantha, known for being responsible for “Fireball” in 2009. With a runtime of two hours, the story has everything, but especially unexpected moments that will make you scream.

Originally known as “Tee Yod“, it premiered in 2023 and was so successful that it secured a sequel, which will be released on October 10 of this year and will be helmed by filmmaker Narit Yuvaboon.

Death Whisperer” is the new No. 8 movie worldwide on Netflix, according to Flix Patrol, and as expected, it has been accumulating thousands of views among users from multiple countries.

This Thai supernatural production from 2023 was adapted from the novel “Tee Yod” by Krittanon. The title of the book refers to a term from a mysterious woman dressed in black, and it has been suggested that it is in the Mon language.

The plot revolves around an older brother who, upon returning to his hometown, must find a way to save his younger sister from a strange illness that is causing her to exhibit unusual behavior.

The cast includes several Thai stars, with notable names such as Nadech Kugimiya, Jelilcha Kapaun, Rattawadee Wongthong, Kajbhunditt Jaidee and Peerakrit Phacharaboonyakiat.

The director, Taweewat Wantha, confessed that he was inspired by the unsettling style of the ghost from the classic “The Evil Dead” from 1981. This ghost typically haunts people in a disturbing manner and has crazy ways of tormenting them.
