As has been happening for some time, Netflix‘s original romantic comedies are among the strongest trends, like To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, not only among users worldwide but also in the Top 10 most viewed.

The same occurred with one of the platform’s new acquisitions, the movieMother of the Bride“, which was released just two days ago and has already become the No. 1 on the service, according to Flix Patrol.

Directed by Mark Waters and written by Robin Bernheim, the story combines comedic elements with stunning paradisiacal landscapes, as principal photography was conducted in Phuket, Thailand.

Comedy, drama and romance are just some of the genres represented in Netflix’s latest globally most-watched movie: “Mother of the Bride”, starring Brooke Shields and Miranda Cosgrove.

Flix Patrol reported that this recent addition to the catalog, also an original production of the service, not only secured the top spot in the global Top 10 but swiftly surpassed “Honeymoonish”.

The story follows Lana, a loving mother who travels to a tropical island for her daughter Emma’s wedding, only to discover that the groom’s father is an ex she hasn’t seen in ages.

The rom-coms produced by the streaming giant have had a significant impact on its catalog and the entertainment industry at large, and this new title is no exception…

The cast features a large number of well-known talents, and in addition to the young actress from “Drake & Josh”, the main characters were portrayed by Benjamin Bratt, Sean Teale, Chad Michael Murray and Rachael Harris.
