Netflix subscribers are in for a treat as the streaming giant unveils its latest romantic comedy, “The Mother of the Bride.” Set to premiere on May 9, 2024, this heartwarming film promises to deliver a delightful mix of love, laughter, and family drama.

At the heart of “The Mother of the Bride” is the dynamic duo of Lana and Emma, portrayed by seasoned actress Brooke Shields and fan-favorite Miranda Cosgrove, respectively. Shields, known for her roles in classics like “The Blue Lagoon” and “Suddenly Susan,” takes on the role of Lana, while Cosgrove, of “School of Rock” and “iCarly” fame, plays her daughter, Emma.

Joining Shields and Cosgrove are a talented ensemble cast that includes other veterans of the rom-com genre such as Benjamin Bratt, known for working alongside Sandra Bullock in “Miss Congeniality,” and Chad Michael Murray.

What is ‘The Mother of The Bride’ about?

The plot of “The Mother of the Bride,” which was written by Robin Bernheim, revolves around Lana’s journey as she navigates the unexpected news of her daughter’s wedding. When Emma returns from abroad and announces her plan to tie the knot in Thailand in just one month, Lana finds herself thrust into a whirlwind of emotions.

However, things take a complicated turn when Lana discovers that Emma’s fiancé is none other than the son of her own past love, stirring up old wounds and unresolved feelings. Through the ups and downs of wedding planning in a foreign land, Lana and Emma must confront their pasts. And, of course, there will be plenty of absurd and funny situations along the way.

Directed by Mark Waters, “The Mother of the Bride” promises to be a delightful addition to Netflix’s ever-expanding lineup of romantic comedies, which includes classics such as “Set It Up” or “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before.”

The rest of the cast includes Rachael Harris, Sean Teale, Michael McDonald, Wilson Cruz, Tasneem Roc, and Dalip Sondhi. Filming actually took place in Phuket, Thailand in 2023. So, apart from an entertaining storyline, you can expect beautiful landscapes.
