Since South Korean television series started gaining popularity on streaming platforms a few years ago, audiences have been clamoring for more, and streaming services have eagerly obliged. This is especially true for Netflix, which was a pioneer in bringing these productions to a global audience. The platform’s latest release, “Love Next Door,” has already entered the United States Top 10 just hours after its debut.

The show is being highly praised for its lightheartedness, a refreshing change from the more intense, heartbreaking dramas with tragic endings that have dominated recently. It is described as an easygoing yet well-executed production.

The only downside is that, according to IMDb, new episodes will be released every Saturday and Sunday. While the first two episodes are already available on the platform, fans will have to wait until August 24 to see the third. The series will have a total of 16 episodes, with the finale set to air on October 6.

‘Love Next Door’ makes it to the United States Top 10

Korean shows continue to dominate Netflix, and “Love Next Door “is no exception, quickly breaking into the Top 10 in the United States just hours after its release, according to FlixPatrol.

Effortlessly, it has dethroned “A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder,” which was the trending series of July and mid-August, and “Prison Break,” which has recently experienced a resurgence in popularity. Currently, it’s vying with “Fire Country” to climb even higher on the chart.

In the show, Choi Seung Hyo, the most prominent young architect in Korea, runs the prestigious architecture firm “In.” His life seems perfect, yet he’s haunted by moments he’d rather forget—moments that often involve Bae Seok Ryu, a childhood friend who suddenly reappears, turning his world upside down.

The dynamic duo is played by Jung Hae-in and Jung So-min, two of the most beloved Korean stars today. Fans are raving about their on-screen chemistry, praising the casting director for such a perfect match—and they’re absolutely right.

Directed by Yoo Je-won and written by Shin Ha-eun, the minds behind “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha,” one of Netflix’s most successful K-dramas to date, “Love Next Door” is a must-watch for anyone who enjoyed their previous work.
