“Megan Leavey” is a dramatic film based on true events that was released in 2017 but has now become one of the biggest trends on Netflix this week, reaching the Top 3 in the United States.
The story is inspired by the life of a young U.S. Marine and her military dog, Rex. The drama was directed by Gabriela Cowperthwaite, based on a screenplay written by Pamela Gray, Annie Mumolo and Tim Lovestedt.

As happens every weekend, the Netflix Top 10 movies list has been updated again and this time, the drama “Megan Leavey” has secured the third spot among the most chosen by American users.
The specialized metrics site, Flix Patrol, confirmed that the production has not only become one of the most-watched in the United States but has also surpassed multiple other well-known films, such as “The Little Things”.
Kate Mara stars in the film in the role of Megan, while Ramón Rodríguez appears as Marine Sergeant Matt Morales and Tom Felton (known as Malfoy in Harry Potter) as Andrew Dean.
The cast includes several well-known talents, and among the rest of the notable cast were Bradley Whitford as Bob Leavey (Megan’s father), Edie Falco as Jackie Leavey (Megan’s mother) and Common as Gunnery Sergeant Massey.
What is Megan Leavey about?
The story follows the life of Megan Leavey, a troubled young woman who decides to join the United States Marine Corps as a way to find purpose and discipline in her life. After completing training, she is assigned to work with combat dogs in Iraq.
During her service, she develops a special bond with a dog named Rex, an aggressive and highly trained attack dog. Together, they complete over 100 missions searching for explosives, saving lives, and earning the respect of their comrades.
However, their lives are threatened by an explosive attack that leaves them severely injured. After the incident, Megan struggles to adapt to civilian life while attempting to gain custody of Rex so they can be reunited.
