Martin Scorsese will join forces with two of Hollywood’s most talented actors, <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/leonardo-dicaprio">Leonardo DiCaprio</a> and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/jennifer-lawrence">Jennifer Lawrence</a>, to carry out one of the most anticipated productions: the biopic of Frank Sinatra.



Variety reported that multiple studios and platforms are vying to acquire the rights for the director’s next <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> after “<a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/apple-tv-plus/killers-of-the-flower-moons-streaming-release-date-has-been-confirmed-20240104-SPEN-756.html">Killers of the Flower Moon</a>“, but first, the project must have the blessing of Tina, the singer’s daughter.



This isn’t the first time the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/drama">drama</a> has been set in motion; the filmmaker has been pursuing the idea for several years. In 2017, he backed off because the star’s children did not approve of what they were doing.



<h2>Leonardo DiCaprio will portray Frank Sinatra</h2>



The Oscar-winning actor, who has already worked six times with the acclaimed director, has been chosen to bring Frank Sinatra to life in his highly anticipated biopic, which will explore the life of the iconic singer.



The official plot is not yet known, but according to World of Reel, Scorsese confessed that he hoped to approach the project as a complex portrait of the ups and downs the singer experienced over the years.

“Certain things are very difficult for a family, and I completely understand that. But if they expect me to do it, they can’t suppress certain things. The problem is that the man was very complex. Everyone is very complex, but Sinatra in particular”, he revealed.



This means that Leonardo DiCaprio will not have a rosy portrayal; he will need to embody both the best and worst moments of the musical industry icon, known for songs like “Fly Me To The Moon”.

Jennifer Lawrence, who won the Oscar for Best Actress for her work in Silver Linings Playbook, has been chosen to portray Ava Gardner, the second wife of the American singer and actor.

<h2>Sinatra biopic was a failed project for a long time</h2>



Martin Scorsese has been pursuing a Sinatra biopic for many years, but it never came to fruition, all because the singer’s children did not approve of the direction the film’s story was taking.



According to World of Reels, throughout the 2000s, the director was developing the drama, which originally had John Travolta as the lead. However, in 2017, he backed away from the project.

At one point, Phil Alden Robinson was set to write the screenplay, but later Billy Ray was attached. Ultimately, neither of them ended up being part of the production team or the project itself.



Seven years ago, the filmmaker confessed to the Toronto Sun that he had abandoned the project because “We can’t do it. I think it’s finally over. [Sinatra’s heirs] won’t agree to it. Open it up again and I’m there”.

The story begins with the mysterious gathering of these magicians by an unknown figure. Together, they form a team and become famous for their incredible magic tricks that defy logic. However, their performances are not just entertainment; they also serve a deeper and hidden purpose.



As they gain notoriety, they attract the attention of the FBI and an Interpol investigator. FBI agent Dylan Rhodes teams up with investigator Alma Dray to try to uncover how the magicians pull off their elaborate heists and bring them to justice.

Parker Finn will return to direct the new installment, and during CinemaCon, a first preview was shown. According to Slash Film, the story will be even more disturbing than the first. The site reported:

It has been confirmed that Connie Nielsen will reprise her role as Lucilla. It is estimated that she will have a significant role again, as she is the mother of the main character in the story, Lucius, portrayed by Paul Mescal.



She is the only figure from the original movie returning for the sequel, so we cannot expect any other secret cameos (or at least that’s as far as we know). Therefore, the appearance of other stars is ruled out.



<h2>Who are the cast members of Gladiator 2?</h2>



In addition to Connie Nielsen and Paul Mescal, the cast is composed of great talents and names that have resonated strongly between 2022 and 2024. One of them is <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/pedro-pascal">Pedro Pascal</a>, who will have an important role in the story.



It is not yet known what his character’s name is or whom he will portray exactly, but it has been confirmed that he will bring to life a Roman general forced to become a gladiator, who crosses paths with Lucius.

<h2>Lady Gaga released a companion album</h2>



Lady Gaga, who plays the legendary Harley Quinn, revealed a little big surprise for Joker fans: on Friday, September 27, just days before the sequel’s release, she will launch a companion album for “Folie à Deux”.



This could mean that the iconic pop singer will not only perform the scheduled covers, but also that some of her new tracks from her upcoming work titled “Harlequin” may appear. So far, this has not been officially confirmed.



Each of the songs reflects a variety of musical influences and themes related to the film’s narrative, as well as her character. The singer has playfully referred to Harlequin as “LG 6.5“. Here, check the tracks that make up her piece:

Among the young actors in Hollywood who have enjoyed a rapid ascent is <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/paul-mescal">Paul Mescal,</a> the Irish star who gained fame as the sad boy Connell in “Normal People.” In only a few years, the 28 year-old actor has found himself among Hollywood royalty, with his biggest <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> coming out this year: “Gladiator 2,” directed by Ridley Scott.



After his breakthrough in the BBC <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/series">series</a>, Mescal quickly started working in cinema. Some of his credits include “The Lost Daughter,” “Aftersun,” for which he earned his first Oscar nomination for Best Actor; and most recently, “Foe” and “All of Us Strangers,” with <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/andrew-scott">Andrew Scott</a>. However, all of these films are all small in scale compared to the upcoming historical epic.

Set 15 years after the events of the first movie, which earned Russell Crowe his first <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/oscars">Oscar</a>, Mescal will show a new side of himself on the screen. “I don’t think it’s something that people will expect from me—which is always a nice position to be in,” the actor told Vanity Fair in January 2024. “Gladiator II” will have a wide release in theaters on November 22, 2024. It’s already one of the most anticipated films of the year. The movie was filmed through 2023 (before the Hollywood Strikes) and wrapped filming in January 2024.

While on the press tour for “Napoleon,” Scott revealed that Mescal is playing Lucius, Lucilla’s son. The director confirmed that he has been living “in the wilderness” with no connection with his mother, who thinks he might be dead. In the first trailer of the movie, shown at the 2024 CinemaCon, it was shown that Mescal’s character is inspired by Maximus (Crowe’s character in the original) to become a gladiator.

Apart from Mescal, the epic boasts a star-studded cast. Denzel Washington will play an arms and commodity dealer with a grudge against the emperors. Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn plays co-emperor Caracalla and Fred Hechinger plays co-emperor Geta. The latter was supposed to be played by Barry Keoghan, who pulled out of the project due to scheduling conflicts.

According to the first footage, Pedro Pascal plays a Roman general forced to become a gladiator. Connie Nielsen will return as Lucilla, who was Maximus’ former lover and older sister of Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix in the original). The rest of the cast includes Derek Jacobi as Senator Gracchus, a member of the Roman Senate, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, May Calamawy and Tim McInnerny.

Patricia Highsmith’s Tom Ripley has endured as one of the most iconic characters in fiction, especially in the crime genre. Cate Blanchett and Philip Seymour Hoffman also appear in supporting roles. The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $128 million worldwide. It received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Law.

Prior to the 1999 film adaptation of “The Talented Mr. Ripley,” the novel had already been brought to the screen as “Purple Moon” in 1960, starring Alain Delon as Tom, a portrayal many consider the definitive version of the character. In 2009, BBC Radio 4 produced adaptations of all five Ripley novels, featuring Ian Hart as Tom.



Additionally, other novels in the Ripley series found their way to cinema. “Ripley’s Game” was first adapted as “The American Friend” in 1977, starring Dennis Hopper, and later in 2002, it was re-adapted under its original title with John Malkovich. “Ripley Under Ground” was turned into a film in 2005, with Barry Pepper taking on the lead role.
