Now that Robert Downey Jr.‘s return to the MCU has been announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, many have been wondering if there is a possibility of seeing Tony Stark as Iron Man again.
During the Marvel panel event, the actor himself revealed that he has been cast to play Doctor Doom, one of the most powerful villains, who made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #5 in 1962.
This is why many believed that at some point, a crossover between the Avengers’ new nemesis and the cast of “Fantastic Four: First Steps“, led by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, could take place.
Could Tony Stark have a cameo in the next Avengers?
Well, it is believed that Tony Stark will not appear in the upcoming Avengers movies. Remember that Iron Man sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos, which marked a significant and conclusive end to his arc in the MCU.
Marvel Studios has not announced any plans for Robert Downey Jr. to reprise his role, and there has been no official confirmation of his return to this specific role. Now that he will be Doom, the hopes of him returning as the hero are low.
