Only a visionary filmmaker could have three movies and still be considered one of the standout directors of his generation, and Jordan Peele certainly fits that description. Not only did “Get Out” and “Us” become major hits, but they also redefined the norms and rules of modern horror, infusing them with profound social messages.

Since leaving us breathless with his sci-fi film “Nope,” fans have eagerly awaited Jordan Peele’s fourth title. Initially slated for release on December 24 this year by Universal, the project was later shelved indefinitely in favor of “Nosferatu.”

Now, the comedian-turned-director has finally announced its official release date: October 3, 2026. As we patiently await this (rather far ahead) premiere, let’s try to figure out what kind of picture he will make.

Jordan Peele’s upcoming movie will probably be an horror flick

Two possibilities dominate speculation: a return to his signature genre or taking the helm of the troubled “Blade” reboot starring Mahershala Ali.

The “Blade” option initially seemed unlikely, since Peele previously expressed disinterest in helming any Marvel project. However, the title has recently lost two directors, and this urgency could have led the entertainment company to offer Peele a significant payment for him to accept. If the contract was signed, that would explain his recent announcement being stated so close to the latest director’s departure.

However, Peele’s own excitement for his future work rules out this theory. In a podcast interview with Conan O’Brien, he described his next film with genuine enthusiasm, stating, “I do feel like my next project is clear to me, and I’m psyched that I have another film that could be my favorite movie if I make it right.” This passion suggests a creation closer to his heart than a superhero film he previously rejected.

Furthermore, considering the filmmaker’s established love for horror and the film’s Halloween-adjacent release date, a horror movie seems the more likely candidate.
