Just a few hours ago, it was confirmed that the acclaimed director Michael Bay, known for hits like Transformers and Bad Boys, is working on a rather unusual project: the adaptation of “Skibidi Toilet“.

This is a popular animated video series created by the YouTube channel DaFuq!?Boom! that went viral on the internet in February 2023 and focuses on a fictional and absurd war between bizarre characters.

The episodes have accumulated millions of views, and their popularity has led to the creation of merchandise and fan art. Now, it has been confirmed that the Oscar-nominated filmmaker wants to bring the story to the screen.

What is Skibidi Toilet about?

The original series is set in a world where Skibidi toilets try to dominate the world and face off against the forces of the Camera Heads. The narrative is minimalistic and largely relies on visual humor and absurdity.

Each of the videos has captured the attention of a diverse audience, including children and teenagers, due to its absurd humor and visual appeal. As a result, it has a solid fan base around the world.

Despite this, when the news broke that Bay was going to develop a live-action franchise related to this production, many were unsure whether it was actually a joke or if the media was being serious.

The four-time Oscar-nominated director Michael Bay has a new project in mind, which is an adaptation for both TV and film of the series created by Alexey Gerasimov, “Skibidi Toilet”.

Variety and other specialized media reported that the American filmmaker will participate as a creative advisor through Invisible Narratives, with the goal of further expanding the franchise, including a line of toys.

It seems there is already an idea of what the movie might be like, and it involves a hybrid thriller of animation and live action, similar in style to the John Wick movies with Keanu Reeves and District 9.
