Nick Jonas and Paul Rudd have been chosen to star in John Carney‘s new musical, who is known for his work in film and television as a director and screenwriter (as well as being a truly talented Irish musician).

His distinctive style that combines music and emotional narrative has made the filmmaker’s movies acclaimed, as they often capture the essence of music as a means to express emotions and connect people.

Their next big project is “Power Ballad“, which will feature the two male stars. They have never worked together before, but they are certainly not unfamiliar with each other’s work, like Ant-Man and Camp Rock.

What is ‘Power Ballad’ about?

Power Ballad will not only bring with it a luxury and top-level cast, but its moving narrative will be a blend of drama, comedy and of course, musical aspects, which will be present in every scene.

According to Deadline and other important media, the plot tells the story of a wedding singer (played by Paul Rudd), a rock star (played by Nick Jonas), and the song that comes between them.

The script was written by the director himself, John Carney (Sing Street), along with Peter McDonald (The Bachelor Weekend). The filmmaker didn’t miss the opportunity to talk about the two main stars and the project, saying:

When will ‘Power Ballad’ be released?

Although it has not yet been revealed when Power Ballad will arrive on the big screen or if it will debut on streaming, it has been confirmed that filming has already begun, so it could be released at some point in 2025.
