Truth is, critics have found the ending of “MaXXXine” to be quite ambiguous. Viewers who have seen it confirm these statements, generating numerous intriguing theories about the finale, which many consider satisfactory but not entirely conclusive.
Adding to the intrigue, Ti West previously discussed potential future installments in an interview with What’s Under the Bed, mentioning he had ideas but would wait to see the trilogy’s reception:
“There is this one weird idea that I have that is kind of… if I explained it, it would make sense. But we’ll see what happens. Let’s get this movie done first, see if people like it. Then we’ll go from there.”
Considering his earlier desire for “X” and “Pearl” to serve as the foundation for a Maxine Cinematic Universe, which he mentioned many times, the possibility of a fourth movie seems quite plausible.
However, it’s worth noting that West has also emphasized “MaXXXine” as the conclusion to the protagonist’s story. With all this in mind, while Mia Goth may return to the big screen under West’s guidance, it will probably be in a different role, similar to her work in “Pearl”.
