After directing “Queer” with Daniel Craig, acclaimed Italian director Luca Guadagnino is back on the big screen with a mega-important project: American Psycho, whose main character has marked the history of cinema.

Patrick Bateman became a male style icon, influencing the fashion and aesthetics of the era. His attention to detail, from his designer clothing to his personal grooming, has been the subject of analysis in studies of pop culture.

The classic from 2000, which featured Christian Bale as the main character, will return once again, but this time with a different perspective. Scott Z. Burns will develop the screenplay, which is based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis.

Are there any confirmed actors for American Psycho?

No! Until October 2024, there is no confirmed actor for the new version of American Psycho. However, fans of the classic have been speculating about who could portray the wealthy banking executive Patrick Bateman.

Christian Bale set the bar quite high, and since his performance in the 2000 adaptation, no interpretations have been quite as successful. One of the names that has emerged for the new installment is Nicholas Alexander Chavez.

The 25-year-old actor gained more popularity after the release of the second season of “Monsters” on Netflix, where he portrayed Lyle Menendez for nine episodes, alongside his co-star Cooper Koch.

Will the new adaptation tell the same story as the original?

Luca Guadagnino’s American Psycho will not be a remake of the 2000 movie but a new adaptation of Ellis’s novel, so it will tell the classic horror story that has marked an entire generation.

It follows the life of Patrick Bateman, a young Wall Street executive in 1980s New York. Although he seems to have a perfect life filled with success, wealth, and superficial relationships, he is a sociopath leading a double life as a serial killer.

The book generated controversy due to its graphic depiction of violence, especially against women, leading to debates about its content and the author’s intent. Many consider it a provocative work that challenges social norms.
