Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) and Miles Teller (Top Gun: Maverick) have not worked together in any known movie or project to date, but this is about to change as they have been chosen to star in Martin Scorsese‘s new drama.

Life of Jesus” is based on a novel written by acclaimed Japanese author Shūsaku Endō, first published in 1973, which focuses on the life of Jesus Christ from a unique and often controversial perspective.

The director himself will co-write the screenplay with Kent Jones, known for other productions such as the dramatic thriller “Diane” and the documentary “A Letter to Elia”. Check here for more details about the film…

What is Life of Jesus about?

The movie will address religious and existential themes, as well as the emotional and spiritual complexities of the characters who interact with Jesus. Through the narrative, it seeks to explore the humanity and divinity of Jesus Christ, as well as the meaning of his life and message in the context of the Christian faith.

The novel delves into the internal struggles and doubts of the characters, including Jesus himself, as they face life’s challenges and trials. The author himself uses a reflective and meticulous literary style to capture the depth of spiritual and emotional experiences.

What is known about the film?

The next film directed by Martin Scorsese is set to begin production later this year, according to Variety. It was estimated that filming would take place in Israel, Italy and Egypt. However, filming in Israel could prove to be quite challenging.

The release date and full cast details, aside from Andrew Garfield and Miles Teller, are not yet known as the project is in pre-production. What has been confirmed is that this will be the director’s next project.
