Despite all the rumors about the highly anticipated Joker sequel with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, the director confirmed that the film will not be a musical, but music will be an essential part of the story.
Todd Phillips confessed to Variety that the upcoming movie, set to hit theaters on October 4th, leans towards being “primarily a jukebox musical”, due to the number of hits on the soundtrack.
This time, the plot will not only feature Arthur Fleck, the iconic DC villain, but will also include Harley Quinn, portrayed by the singer and Oscar-winning actress from “A Star is Born”.

With the release of the first trailer for the sequel to The Joker, it was revealed that the soundtrack will not only feature multiple well-known songs but will also include two original songs, although it is not yet known who will perform them.
Variety reported that Oscar-winning composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, will be behind the music for the film and will be responsible for it. According to a source close to the filming, she “infuses her distinctive and unsettling keys” into each piece.

Lady Gaga released a companion album
Lady Gaga, who plays the legendary Harley Quinn, revealed a little big surprise for Joker fans: on Friday, September 27, just days before the sequel’s release, she will launch a companion album for “Folie à Deux”.
This could mean that the iconic pop singer will not only perform the scheduled covers, but also that some of her new tracks from her upcoming work titled “Harlequin” may appear. So far, this has not been officially confirmed.
Each of the songs reflects a variety of musical influences and themes related to the film’s narrative, as well as her character. The singer has playfully referred to Harlequin as “LG 6.5“. Here, check the tracks that make up her piece:
