Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator) is ready to don the iconic Joker suit once again, and this time it’s for the highly anticipated sequel to the drama, titled “Folie à Deux“, which will also feature Lady Gaga (A Star is Born).
Todd Phillips will be directing the film once again. The filmmaker himself will co-adapt the screenplay with Scott Silver, which is based on the characters created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane and Paul Dini.
The musical has been rated R for “some strong violence, language throughout, some sexuality and brief full nudity”, according to some media outlets and official sites, such as Film Updates and IMDb.
When will Joker: Folie à Deux be released?
The sequel to Joker, which has been rated as adults only, has not only revealed its first poster, inspired by a classic comic, but it has also announced its release date: October 4, 2024.
Director Todd Phillips was the one who shared the first look on his social media, also announcing that the first trailer would air on April 9. Many fans have found some similarities between Alex Ross‘s illustration and the cover.
Although many may not know and others were unaware of the existence of the comic, the poster is inspired by one of DC’s most popular comics, Batman: Harley Quinn by Paul Dini, Yvel Guichet and Aaron Sowd from 1999.
Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix lead the Joker 2 cast
As couldn’t be missing, Joaquin Phoenix will return to the big screen in the sequel to the movie, reprising his role as Arthur Fleck himself. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will bring Harley Quinn to life.
On the other hand, there are several actors who were in the first installment and will reappear in the new movie. Among them is Zazie Beetz, who will portray Sophie Dumond. Additionally, there will be new major additions.

What is the sequel to The Joker about?
