Daniel Day-Lewis has surprised the world by announcing his return to the big screen after seven years since his second retirement. This time, he will star in “Anemone“, a drama currently in production.

The star has always been very selective about the roles he takes, even stepping away from acting to become a shoemaker. However, Martin Scorsese brought him back, leading to his last movie release in 2017.

Daniel Day-Lewis‘s retirement lasted just under a decade, and the three-time Oscar winner is ready to return to acting for a very special reason: the directorial debut of his son, Ronan Day-Lewis.

Yes, the legendary actor is back in Hollywood to star in the upcoming production by his second son with screenwriter and writer Rebecca Miller, with whom he has been in a relationship since 1996​.

Who is the cast of Anemone?

Daniel Day-Lewis (There Will Be Blood and Phantom Thread) was one of the first actors confirmed for the cast of the drama, and although he is one of the main stars, he is not the only talented actor in central roles in the film.

It seems that Sean Bean (Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings) has been cast as the co-lead. Both actors will be joined by figures such as Samantha Morton, Safia Oakley-Green and Samuel Bottomley.

What is Anemone all about?

Although the official synopsis has not been revealed, IMDb reported that “Anemone” explores the relationships between parents, children, siblings and family bonds. Therefore, we can expect a great drama filled with chaos.

When will Anemone be released?

It’s still too early to talk about release dates, as “Anemone” is still being filmed in October 2024. The cinematic drama, which marks Ronan Day-Lewis’s directorial debut, will be produced by Focus Features.
