After getting to know Elvis‘s story with Baz Luhrmann‘s Oscar-nominated film, it’s time to meet the woman who accompanied him for a significant part of his life and rise to fame: Priscilla Presley. Through an intense biopic, all the secrets of Graceland are revealed.

The work, directed by the talented Sofia Coppola, is based on a script written by the filmmaker herself along with Sandra Harmon and, of course, Priscilla. The production was surrounded by some controversies for portraying the bittersweet view of the iconic couple’s intimacy.

In just one week, the title will finally have its grand streaming debut. It quickly found a home in Max‘s catalog, where the 2022 film starring Austin Butler (Masters of the Air), Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump) and Olivia DeJonge (The Staircase and The Society) is also available.

When does Priscilla arrive on Max?

Priscilla, the talked-about and acclaimed biographical film directed by Coppola, will arrive on Max’s catalog in just a few weeks. So far, its streaming debut is scheduled for Friday, February 23rd in the United States.

If you didn’t have the opportunity to see it in theaters, don’t worry; soon you’ll be able to enjoy it from the comfort of your home. Cailee Spaeny brings the protagonist to life, while Jacob Elordi portrays Elvis.

The performances of both actors were highlighted on several occasions, especially after Sofia confessed that when she saw the Euphoria actor arrive, she knew exactly that she was going to cast him in the film as the great Rock icon.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the director explained that she considered the male star as the ideal actor because, after meeting him in a café, “All the girls in the room turned to him, gravitated. I said to myself, ‘Yes, he has the charisma that I imagine Elvis had'”.

What is Priscilla about?

The story focuses entirely on the woman who stood by Elvis during his rise to fame, his toughest moments, and his tragic end. When Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley, the man who is already a rock and roll superstar becomes something entirely unexpected: an exhilarating infatuation, an ally in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend.

Sofia Coppola confessed that she did not want to tell a narrative that was not 100 percent true or portray the musician in a negative light. “I didn’t want to turn him into a villain or focus on his drug addiction, but I was honest about his flaws”, she admitted in an interview with the Financial Times.

Priscilla Presley also spoke about the director’s work in portraying her life, stating that the filmmaker undoubtedly managed to capture her intimacy and the complications of their critical relationship due to the significant age difference.

However, this time, the King of Rock N’ Roll takes a back seat as the camera firmly grasps a young teenager who meets the love of her life in 1959 at the age of 14. The scenes range from their marriage to their separation a decade later, to her recent 30 years.

Being the girlfriend of the world’s most famous singer while still a high school student not only thrust the young girl into the public eye but also catapulted her into living a life as glamorous as it was shadowy in the iconic Graceland mansion in Memphis, where she became Elvis’s wife and Lisa Marie Presley’s mother.

When creating the feature film, Coppola “completely immersed herself in Priscilla’s perspective”, so the plot is portrayed through her eyes. “I imagine if Harry Styles showed up and said, ‘I want to take your teenage daughter on vacation,’ it would be quite rude to refuse”, she confessed about how the musician was represented, evolving from a polite seducer to something quite different over time.
