The MonsterVerse keeps thriving thanks to the success of the “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” which has grossed over $350 million in global box office. It is the biggest opening of the year, surpassing Timothée Chalamet’s “Dune: Part Two.” But, when is the movie coming to streaming?

Unlike the previous film on the franchise, “Godzilla vs. Kong,” which received a simultaneous release in theaters and streaming in 2021, “The New Empire” is having an exclusive theatrical release. However, being distributed by Warner Bros. we can expect the film to arrive on Max.

While the studio hasn’t confirmed a release date, thanks to previous releases such as “Wonka,” “Barbie” and “Dune,” we have some precedents to estimate when the fifth installment of the MonsterVerse franchise will be available to watch from home.

Streaming Release of ‘Godzilla X Kong’: When will arrive on Max?

For now, “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire” is exclusively available in theaters worldwide since its release on March 29, 2024. However, usually, studios set the digital release of movies after 45 days of its theatrical window.

In the case of “The New Empire,” that would be on Monday, May 13. However, it can also change depending on the success at the box office. For example, “Barbie” had its digital release pushed into two months after being released in theaters.

But “Dune: Part Two,” which has grossed over $700.6 million worldwide so far, had its digital release date for April 16th, exactly 46 days after its theatrical debut. So, it’s reasonable to think that “Godzilla x Kong” will have a similar schedule.

Meanwhile, when it comes to its release on Max, it can be between three and five months after its theatrical debut. Wonka, which was released in December, arrived on Max in March, while Barbie, released in July, arrived on the platform in December.
