After four years since its last installment, “The Hunger Games” book series will be back with another story set in the dystopian world of Panem, titled “Sunrise on the Reaping.” This will be the fifth chapter in the franchise, following the famous trilogy and its prequel, “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”.

Apart from being best-sellers worldwide, the creations of Suzanne Collins have also sparked one of the most succesful film series of contemporary cinema, which earned $593 billion worldwide against a budget of $33 million.

Of course, fans of both the novels and the pictures are highly enthusiastic about the upcoming title. Here are all the details known so far.

What will ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ be about?

According to the Associated Press, “Sunrise on the Reaping” will be set 24 years before the events of “The Hunger Games,” placing it chronologically after “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.”

Specifically, it will take place during the 50th Hunger Games, won by Haymitch Abernathy during the Second Quarter Quell. According to Suzanne Collins, the story will focus on the use of propaganda and the power of those who are few and govern many recklessly.

Which characters will be featured in ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’?

From information gathered in the books that mention the 50th Hunger Games, we know some of the characters who will appear. First and foremost, Haymitch Abernathy will lead the story, and he will be accompanied by the tyrannical dictator Coriolanus Snow.

Additionally, there will be many names featured in this installment, as its edition of the Games demanded participation of two girls and two boys from each district, making a total of 48 tributes. The most important of them is Maysilee Donner, a tribute from District 12 and the original owner of the mockingjay pin. She is also Madge Undersee‘s aunt and a friend of Katniss‘s mother.

When will ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ be released?

According to Variety, the novel is set to be released on March 18, 2025. Suzanne Collins is known for releasing her books within a year of announcing them, and this will be no exception.
