Streaming platforms are fiercely competing to release the best horror titles this October, and Hulu has entered the fray with “Hold Your Breath,” a Sarah Paulson-led thriller poised to dominate the platform all month.

Set in 1930s Oklahoma, the “American Horror Story” star plays Margaret Bellum, whose family endures the region’s devastating dust storms. But as the storms grow unnaturally aggressive, Margaret begins to suspect there’s more to the disaster than just a natural phenomenon.

The gripping, nail-biting storyline has left viewers wondering if there will be a sequel to the protagonist’s chilling journey. Here’s everything known about the future of “Hold Your Breath” on Hulu. Be warned, there are spoilers ahead!

‘Hold Your Breath’ sequel: Will it happen?

If you’ve seen the final moments of “Hold Your Breath,” it’s natural to wonder if the film might have a sequel. While the ending doesn’t necessarily demand one, it certainly leaves the story unresolved.

In the closing scenes, Margaret is consumed by a dust storm, but her daughters manage to escape. They board a train and see the dreamy fields of wheat their mother used to talk about. However, the final shot shows dust lingering in the air around Rose and Ollie, hinting that they may not have fully escaped the clutches of the Grey Man.

Although the picture’s open-ended conclusion leaves room for a potential sequel, it seems unlikely. Hulu has produced numerous horror films with both open and closed endings, yet none have received a second installment. The platform appears more focused on standalone stories rather than movie continuations.

In fact, there are very few examples of the streamer releasing second parts across all genres, with “Vacation Friends” being the rare exception. Given that “Hold Your Breath” barely cracked the U.S. Top 10 within its first 24 hours, it seems improbable that Hulu will prioritize a sequel for this particular title.
