The 2024 Olympic Games have arrived! From July 26 to August 11, we will once again witness the world’s top athletes coming together to celebrate their lifelong dedication to their sports.
While the disciplines take center stage, we’re also paying attention to the entertainment surrounding the Olympics, particularly the Opening Ceremony, which consistently draws high TV viewership and attendance.
This year, alongside the performances by Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, we were treated to many exceptional French artists representing the host country. If you were captivated by Gojira‘s performance, find out more about the opera singer Marina Viotti, who performed alongside them.
Marina Viotti’s age, nationality and career
Marina Viotti, 38 years old, was born on April 30, 1986, in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her father, Marcello Viotti, was a renowned classical music conductor who directed several prestigious opera houses across Europe, including the Stadttheater in Lucerne, the Turin Opera, and the Bremen Opera.

Exposed to instruments from a young age, Marina initially studied the flute before exploring jazz, gospel, and heavy metal, which led to her collaboration with Gojira at the Opening Ceremony. She earned a master’s degree in philosophy and literature before pursuing vocal training with Heidi Brunner and at the Lausanne University of Music, ultimately graduating with a diploma as a soloist.
Marina began her professional career with performances at the Lausanne Opera, Lucerne Theatre, and Grand Théâtre de Genève. Her debut as Isabella at the Rossini Festival in Bad Wildbad in 2015 marked the start of her notable career.
She has since portrayed roles such as Olga in “Eugene Onegin” and Bradamante in “Alcina,” among many others. Her concert repertoire includes works like Mozart’s C Major Mass, The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour, Der Rose Pilgerfahrt, and La Petite Messe Solennelle.
Currently, Marina has ten upcoming performances at renowned venues, including the Barcelona Liceu and the Paris Opera. She will also participate in prestigious festivals such as the Baden-Baden Festival in Germany, the Berlioz Festival in France, and the Paléo Festival in Switzerland.
