While Jonathan Bailey is set to appear one more time as Anthony in the upcoming third season of Bridgerton, the actor is also broadening his already extensive credit list. However, after years of supporting roles, he is certainly now ready to be a leading man in big productions.

Bailey’s biggest role on the big screen will be as Fiyero in the upcoming adaptations of “Wicked,” directed by Jon M. Chu. He will star alongside Ariana Grande and Cynthia Eviro, who play Glinda and Elphaba, respectively. Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Peter Dinklage, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, and Keala Settle complete the cast. The first film arrives on November 27, and the second will land in 2025.

When Chu confirmed the casting of Bailey, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the actor was “perfect” and that he was “too excited” about it. Bailey has already showcased his musical talent on stage. He won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical in 2019 due to his role in the gender-swapped revival of “Company.”
Heartstopper Season 3 (October 2024)
On April 25, it was confirmed that Bailey had joined the third season of Hearstopper, Netflix’s beloved teen series. The actor will play Jack Maddox, a Greek scholar and author who is Charlie’s celebrity crush. Netflix teased his appearance with a video of Bailey in character.
Bailey isn’t the only new face joining the third season of Hearstopper. Hailey Atwell, known for appearing in Mission: Impossible saga, and Eddie Marsan (Back to Black, Ray Donovan) have been casted. Atwell will play Nick’s aunt, while Marsan will take the role of Charlie’s therapist.
Jurassic World reboot (TBD)
Deadline also reported on April 15, 2024, that Bailey was in talks to star in the upcoming reboot of “Jurassic World,” and the actor confirmed he joined the project while in an interview with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show: “I mean it’s mind-blowing and it’s brilliant. I remember going to see Jurassic Park with my family,” he said. “It’s history and it’s the John Williams score. It’s [Steven] Spielberg. I have got nightmares for sort of 30 years, so now my nightmare has come true.”
The film, from Universal, will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla, Rogue One: A Star Wars story). Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson has also been confirmed to be one of the leads. Rupert Friend and Manuel Garcia-Rulfo are also joining the cast.
Bridgerton Season 4 (TBD)
While the Bridgerton series always changes its leads for each season, and Bailey’s Anthony is happily married to Simone Ashley’s Kate Sharma, Bailey has expressed his interest in reprising his role as the head of the Bridgerton family.

Talking to BAFTAs, Bailey said that the role and “the Netflix effect” changed his life. “I look forward to supporting the rest of the family and the stories that go forward because if there is one thing I know about the beloved world is that you want to see them through and people invest their love and their time, and it means so much to so many people. So, yeah, me and Tony (Anthony) will be together for a while,” he explained.
