When it comes to South American film industries, Argentina is definitely one of the best. From the Oscar-winning “The Secret in Their Eyes” to the horror hit “When Evil Lurks,” directors from this country have shown they have a unique voice.
With the intervention of Netflix, movies and series from this part of the world have received great international acclaim. One standout is the highly successful show “El Marginal,” a jail-themed production that captivated audiences worldwide with Nicolás Furtado in the lead role.
Now, the actor leads “Goyo,” the latest romantic production, playing a completely different character from the prison bad boy: a man deeply in love. His story is compelling, made even more so by the spectacular settings where the film takes place.
All about the filming locations for ‘Goyo’
According to FilmiLoc, filming for “Goyo” started in late October last year and finished in December. Most of the story takes place in the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, situated in Recoleta, where the protagonists’ love story develops.
This art institution is one of the most important cultural sites in Argentina and a popular tourist destination. Established in 1896, it houses some of the finest works by Goya, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Rodin, Manet, and Chagall, among other artists.
Additionally, scenes were filmed at the Circulo Militar, the association of officers of the Argentine army, established in 1880. A specific scene featuring a fancy party with classical music was shot there, taking advantage of the venue’s elegant French-style architecture.
Both locations are situated in the heart of Buenos Aires and are among its most iconic spots. “Goyo” uses these settings to complement the unique romance that unfolds between the characters played by Nicolás Furtado and Nancy Dupláa, with the chaotic yet beautiful capital as their backdrop.
