Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla) is the one chosen to star in “Alien: Romulus“, the new film in the franchise directed by Fede Álvarez, which will have its highly anticipated debut on the big screen tomorrow.
The story, which separates itself from the originals and the prequel series directed by Ridley Scott, follows a group of young people from a distant world who must face the most terrifying life form in the universe.
The Uruguayan filmmaker’s fresh and terrifying approach has allowed him to bring his unique style to the Alien universe while staying true to the franchise’s roots in horror and science fiction.
Will Alien: Romulus have a sequel?
Yes! After several months since the release of Alien: Romulus, it has finally been confirmed that Fede Álvarez is preparing a sequel, also marking the return of Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsson to the sci-fi story.
Reports from the start indicated that critics had given positive reviews of the horror drama, paving the way for future installments. The Verge stated that it was “a solid franchise tribute”.
Given the epic saga’s long-standing legacy and loyal fan base, there was always a chance producers would decide to develop a sequel to continue exploring this universe with the last protagonists of the story.
Although Álvarez has said that they are open to exploring new plots in this universe, he also emphasized the importance of not rushing the project, similar to the gap between Alien and Aliens, which had a seven-year interval.
Steve Asbell, president of 20th Century Fox’s film division, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the next film, stating: “We are working on an idea for its sequel. We haven’t finalized our agreement with Fede yet, but we will, and he already has an idea that we are working on“.
