Sydney Sweeney Gets Trapped in Secrets and Lies in ‘The Housemaid’ Trailer

Paul Feig, best known for his work on “Freaks and Geeks,” “Bridesmaids,” “Spy,” and “A Simple Favor,” steps into darker territory with “The Housemaid,” adapting Freida McFadden’s hit novel for the big screen.

The film follows Millie Calloway, played by Sydney Sweeney, a young woman trying to rebuild her life when she takes a live-in job with the wealthy Winchester family. What begins as a chance for stability soon unravels into a tense psychological battle as Millie uncovers a maze of secrets hidden inside the grand household.

Sweeney is joined by a strong ensemble that adds layers to the story’s intrigue. Amanda Seyfried portrays Nina Winchester, the elegant but enigmatic matriarch whose polished surface may conceal a dangerous side. Brandon Sklenar plays Andrew Winchester, while Michele Morrone appears as Enzo, the watchful groundskeeper whose presence heightens the suspense. Elizabeth Perkins rounds out the family as Evelyn Winchester, bringing a seasoned edge to the drama, and Mark Grossman appears as Millie’s first boyfriend, Scott Crawford.

Lionsgate announced the project in 2024, with producer Todd Lieberman bringing it to life alongside Feig and Laura Fischer. Sweeney and Seyfried not only lead the cast but also serve as executive producers, partnering with McFadden to ensure the adaptation stays true to the novel’s gripping twists. Filming took place across New Jersey from January through March.

Audiences will get their chance to step inside this shadowy mansion when “The Housemaid” opens in theaters on December 19. With its mix of star power, psychological tension, and the promise of shocking revelations, the thriller is positioned as a winter release to watch.
