The iconic franchise of space monsters is not only back with a eighth installment but will return stronger than ever with incredible visual effects. This time, it’s Fede Alvarez who directs Romulus, the upcoming sci-fi movie.
Alien introduced a unique combination of science fiction and suspense that influenced the cinematic genre. Its dark, claustrophobic and chilling approach changed the way space horror films were perceived.
The filmmaker teamed up with Ridley Scott, who joined the project as a producer in the drama featuring Cailee Spaeny as the protagonist, accompanied by a stellar cast full of young stars, like Archie Renaux.
When will ‘Alien: Romulus’ be released?
“Alien: Romulus” not only has a confirmed release date but also a teaser has been released to give us a glimpse of what we can expect in this new installment of the classic. The eighth movie will hit the screen on August 16, 2024.
Some major artists and industry members have already had the opportunity to see the horror drama, two of them being Ridley Scott and James Cameron. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the figures stated that they “loved it”.
The director in charge, Fede Alvarez, also spoke with the media and assured that the installment is not a standalone film, but rather connects the plot with the rest of the franchise. There he confessed, “I love all of those movies. I didn’t want to omit or ignore any of them”.
‘Alien: Romulus’ boasts an all-star cast
“Romulus” will not only be the 8th film in the Alien saga but will also mark its return to the big screen after years of absence. Therefore, it was expected that the new installment would feature a stellar and luxurious cast.
The premise follows the youths of a distant world who must face the most terrifying life form in the universe. Cailee Spaeny leads the group, alongside some of the most well-known young stars.
Archie Renaux and Isabela Merced are two of them. Their character names are not yet known, but it is known that they will also be accompanied by David Jonsson, Spike Fearn and Aileen Wu.
