The screenplay was a collaboration between the filmmaker and Oscar-nominated Efthimis Filippou. Although not much is known about the plot, the first images have already been revealed, confirming that the cast will be filled with top-tier stars such as Margaret Qualley, Jesse Plemons and Willem Dafoe.
The list is quite extensive and includes actors of various age ranges and talents. Joe Alwyn, Hunter Schafer, Mamoudou Athie, Hong Chau and Krystal Alayne Chambers are among them, all of whom will also be featured in the drama.
According to Collider, the title will be an anthology film. The filmmaker revealed in an interview, “It’s a contemporary film set in the United States: three different stories, with four or five actors playing a role in each story, so everyone plays three different roles. It was actually almost like making three movies”.
The drama will mark her second collaboration with Alwyn, as they previously worked together in The Favourite. It will also be the fourth time she participates in a project by the Greek filmmaker.
Bugonia – Save the Green Planet Remake | 2025
Save the Green Planet will have its remake, and it will be directed by Yorgos Lanthimos himself, with the actress taking on the lead role. Emma Stone will star in “Bugonia” alongside Jesse Plemons.
The comedy follows a young woman who captures and interrogates a businessman whom she believes to be an alien invader. The captor, her girlfriend, the businessman, and a private detective become entangled in a tense psychological battle.
The new version is based on a South Korean black comedy science fiction film that was originally directed in 2003 by Jang Joon-hwan. Not only was it successful, but it also became a cult classic and a standout for its genre-blending and social commentary.
The drama, produced by Focus Features, is set to be released sometime in 2025. The exact date has not been revealed, but it is expected that the rest of the cast and the release date will be confirmed in the coming months.
Cruella 2 | TBA
Cruella was the first standalone live-action film featuring the iconic character, who used to be a villain in Disney‘s original 101 Dalmatians productions. However, since its release in 2021, the world has stopped seeing her as just that, and now she is one of the favorites, especially due to the work done by Stone in the role.
Thanks to the success of the movie, a sequel has been confirmed. On January 9, 2024, the actress revealed to Variety that the new installment will start filming soon and that the film is “a wonder. She’s a wonder. So yeah, we’ll see. It’s a work in progress“.
Although the plot is still under wraps, it will be Craig Gillespie who directs the second part, with Tony McNamara developing the screenplay. So far, Emma is the only one confirmed for the cast, but it is estimated that the main actors, like Joel Fry, will also be returning.
Eddington | 2025
Eddington is the upcoming film to be directed by Ari Aster with an extensive cast of top-tier stars. It will be the first time many of them have worked together and has been touted as one of the most anticipated films.
