What are Ella Purnell’s next projects?

Arcane – Nov 2024

This is undoubtedly one of Ella Purnell’s most anticipated works! In November, “Arcane” will return for its second season, with her reprising her role as the voice of Jinx, the main character.

Based on the popular video game “League of Legends”, the series follows sisters Jinx and Vi as they work for opposing factions in the conflict-ridden world of Runeterra. While tensions have not yet escalated to open warfare, a dangerous technological breakthrough threatens to ignite a direct confrontation.

Although an official plot for the next episodes of the show hasn’t been disclosed, we can predict that it will focus on the upcoming war between the cities of Piltover and Zaun. This was the cliffhanger that ended the first season.

Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas – 2024

While this series is currently in its post-production phase, the possibility of its release this year remains uncertain. Zack Snyder, its creator, announced “Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas” in 2020, but the production has faced numerous obstacles, casting doubt on its eventual release.

The project is a six-episode anime series set before the events of the 2021 film “Army of the Dead,” delving into the origins of its main characters during the initial stages of the zombie invasion in Las Vegas.

Ella Purnell is confirmed to reprise her role, alongside returning stars Dave Bautista, Ana de la Reguera, Tig Notaro, and Omari Hardwick. Despite encountering setbacks over the past four years, Zack Snyder expressed optimism about the series in a recent interview with GamesRadar+:

“We were working on – and are trying to get back up – our Army animated series, which was really cool. We recorded the whole thing, we recorded all the voices – Christian Slater, all these cool people. Super fun.”

Sweetpea – TBA

“Sweetpea” is set to be a comedydrama series based on the novel of the same name by CJ Skuse. Spanning 8 episodes, the show will feature Ella Purnell in the lead role. While various reports suggest that the filming process has already wrapped, there’s been no mention of a speculated release date yet.

The storyline follows Rhiannon, a woman who maintains the facade of a typical office manager during the day, but by night, she reveals her darker side as a serial killer, meticulously documenting her victims in a personal diary.

This project marks Ella Purnell’s third venture as a producer, following her work on two shorts titled “Junk Male” and “Not a Morning Person”. The series boasts a star-studded cast, including performances from Tim Samuels, Dino Kelly, Lucy Heath, and Jessica Brindle.

The Scurry – TBA

“The Scurry” will mark Ella Purnell’s debut in the horror genre, although mixed with comedic elements. According to Screen Daily, she will portray the lead role of a park attendant who must utilize her skills to survive a plague of killer squirrels.

The film will be helmed by Craig Roberts, renowned for his portrayal of Oliver Tate in the 2010 film “Submarine.” So far, the announced cast also includes Rhys Ifans, Paapa Essiedu, and Antonia Thomas.
