Legally Blonde” not only is one of the most successful, popular and iconic film franchises in history, but it has also managed to change the careers of its actors, especially its protagonist: Reese Witherspoon.

The movie is known for its comedic elements, empowering message, and the charismatic personality of Elle Woods, who challenges stereotypes and defies expectations with her unique blend of intelligence, determination and style.

After 23 years since its grand premiere, it was confirmed that Hello Sunshine is developing a spin-off in series format, which means the actress will be the producer alongside Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl).

Deadline reported that Hello Sunshine and Amazon are looking to expand the Legally Blonde universe, and this time it’s a second project for a series that is underway, although it is still in the preliminary stages of development.

A year ago, the franchise was among a dozen titles from MGM‘s catalog categorized as “in development” for the screen again. The story based on Amanda Brown‘s novel will be back in the coming years.

What will ‘Elle’ be about?

So far, not much is known about “Elle”, the new prequel series. However, it has been confirmed what it will be about, and according to Film Updates, the story will follow Elle Woods in high school.

Will Reese Witherspoon be in the series?

Reese Witherspoon will always be remembered for her role as Elle Woods, and during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2019, she confessed that she was really interested in revisiting the role at the age of 40.

She also revealed that there is a project for the third film in the franchise, but it has not yet been planned to move forward. It has not been confirmed if the actress will return as the incredible lawyer, but there is a possibility.
