The first teaser trailer for the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies/mickey17-with-robert-pattinson-release-date-cast-and-plot-for-bong-joon-hos-trhiller-20240221-SPEN-7271.html">highly-anticipated sci-fi film “Mickey17,” directed by Bong Joon-ho </a>and starring <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/robert-pattinson">Robert Pattinson</a>, was revealed on April 9 at the CinemaCon 2024. And the first reactions suggest that the title will be leaning more towards comedy than originally expected.



Both Pattinson and Bong Joon-ho were at the conference, in which they raved about each other. “I’ve been the biggest fan of Bong for many years. He’s my hero,” the actor said about the Oscar-winning director. “I read the script and I thought it was one of the most funny, bizarre scripts I’ve read in my life,” he added.

<h2>‘Mickey17,’ a sci-fi epic with comedic flair</h2>



The film is based on Edward Ashton’s book “Mickey7.” The novel revolves around an “expendable” employee assigned to a mission to colonize a new world. Despite being considered disposable, he rebels against the idea of being replaced by his clone.



Bong Joon-ho revealed at the CinemaCon 2024 that he renamed the movie “Mickey17” because he kills Pattinson’s character 10 more times than in the novel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first trailer opens with Robert Pattinson’s character losing a hand and then dying and being “reprinted” several times. The footage shows Mark Ruffalo’s character declaring that those multiple versions must be “exterminated.”

Apart from the first images, a talking point of the teaser was Pattinson’s voice. According to Variety’s Matt Donelly, the actor is “doing this accent that’s like Joe Pesci as Tweety Bird, or that incredible Funny or Die skit ‘Ryan Gosling’s Acting Range.’”



The rest of the cast includes Toni Colette, Naomi Ackie, and Steven Yeun. Ruffalo plays a “dictator,” according to the director. Produced by Warner Bros. the film has been delayed twice, and it’s now going to be released on January 31, 2025.

In its first weekend on the platform, “Wish” has become the number one <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">movie</a> on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/disney-plus">Disney+</a> worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. Meanwhile, Disney revealed on Monday (April 8th) that the film earned 13.2 million views globally in its first five days on streaming.



That means that the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/animated">animated</a> musical, starring Chris Pine and Ariana DeBose, had the third biggest premiere on the service, just behind “Encanto” and “Frozen 2.” The film is the latest in a series of movies that got a second life on streaming, such as “The Marvels.”



“Wish” was released in November 2023 to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the studio. However, it ended up being a disappointment both critically and commercially, even as it grossed over $253 million.



<h2>Wish didn’t resonate with critics </h2>



Wish takes place in the magical kingdom of Rosas, where Asha (DeBose), a sharp-witted idealist, makes a wish so powerful that it is answered by an energy called Star. She has to save her kingdom from its ruler of Rosas, King Magnifico (Pine).



Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, Natasha Rothwell, Jennifer Kumiyama, Harvey Guillén, Evan Peters, Ramy Youssef and Jon Rudnitsky rounded up the cast. The film was directed by Chris Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn, from a script by Disney Animation chief Jennifer Lee and Allison Moore.

The art style combines computer animation with the look of traditional animation, and the story was supposed to explain the origin of the “wishing star.” Meanwhile, Julia Michaels and Benjamin Rice wrote its original songs, and Dave Metzger penning its original score.



However, the film wasn’t well received by critics, who slammed the film’s lack of originality and over-reliance on references to the studio. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie got 49% of approval from 217 reviews.

<h2>‘Fly Me To the Moon,’ a rom-com set against the space race</h2>



The project was acquired by Apple in 2022 in a $100 million deal following a bidding war between studios. First known as “Project Artemis,” the film has suffered some setbacks, such as Chris Evans’ departure from the project. Evans was supposed to play Tatum’s role but a production delay left him out of the film.



However, Johansson, who also produces the film, has praised his co-star in a new interview with People Magazine. “Channing is such an easy-going actor, good spirited and professional. Falling in love with him onscreen was pretty easy. He’s such a likable person,” she said.

Meanwhile, according to what producer Andrew Gunn told Cosmopolitan, the band Pink Slip will also return to the sequel. “We got a draft of a script for the sequel right before the writers’ strike. It uses music and the band in a great way,” he told the outlet.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Nisha Ganatra has been selected to helm the upcoming sequel. She has recently directed episodes of Hulu miniseries Welcome to Chippendales. The original film was directed by Mark Waters. Elyse Hollander is penning the script.



<h2>What would ‘Freaky Friday’ be about?</h2>



Entertainment Weekly has reported that the plot for this new movie, according to an open casting call, would be as it follows. Anna (Lohan) is set to marry British restaurateur Eric Davis, but her 14-year-old daughter Harper isn’t happy about it.



Meanwhile, Eric’s 14-year-old daughter Lily doesn’t see eye to eye with Harper. However, the body swap would happen between Anna and Harper, and Tess (Curtis) and Lily. It is not confirmed that this will be the final story, though.
