“God’s Country” is Melissa Barrera’s second work as a producer. Originally set to play the main part, scheduling conflicts led to her replacement by María Bakalova, famous for starring in the “Borat” franchise. 



So far, details about the movie’s storyline have been quite vague. The official synopsis reveals that the production is a horror story about the American Dream being torn to pieces through the relationship of a Salvadoran woman and her fiancé from Kentucky.



Like “The One”, this film is also in the pre-production stage. Melissa doesn’t have many future projects close to release, but her most recent movie, “Abigail”, just hit cinemas worldwide yesterday.

The plot revolves around Laura Franco, an actress who falls in love with a monster living in her closet, portrayed by Tommy Dewey. Its director, Caroline Lindy, presents the movie as romantic, comedic, and horrific at the same time.
