Zac Efron has built a rather impressive career, especially from his Disney years to the present day. He has traversed all genres, but one that has suited him particularly well is horror, especially with “Firestarter“.
The dramatic film, which also blends science fiction, was directed by Keith Thomas and is an adaptation of the book of the same name written by Stephen King, with the screenplay written by Scott Teems.
The actor portrays Andy McGee, the main character. Despite being the protagonist of the movie, he is not the only star present; he shares the spotlight with Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Sydney Lemmon.
Firestarter ranked No. 9 movie on Prime Video worldwide
“Firestarter” is a film directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil and The First Omen) that has become one of the biggest trends on Prime Video, currently ranking in the Top 9 worldwide, according to Flix Patrol.
Blumhouse Productions, Jason Blum’s film studio known for being involved in horror, suspense and psychological drama projects, was in charge of the production.
Zac Efron (The Iron Claw and High School Musical) portrays Andy McGee, a man with psychic abilities who must protect his daughter Charlie, who has pyrokinetic powers (the ability to create and control fire with her mind).
The plot follows the McGee family as they flee from a secret government agency known as “The Shop”, which wants to capture their young daughter (played by Ryan Kiera Armstrong) and use her abilities as a weapon for their own purposes.
The 2022 drama is a new interpretation of Stephen King‘s original material, which had previously been adapted in 1984 in a film starring Drew Barrymore (ET, 50 First Dates and Scream) as Charlie.
This new version seeks to offer an updated take on the classic horror and science fiction story, focusing on exploring themes of power, control and the struggle to maintain humanity in the face of extraordinary abilities.
