“The Deliverance” marks Netflix‘s early dive into the Halloween season, and it’s already making a splash. Just hours after its release, the movie shot to the top of the global rankings, proving that audiences are always ready for a good scare.
The film boasts a stellar ensemble cast, including Academy Award-nominated actress Glenn Close, “Stranger Things” star Caleb McLaughlin, and Andra Day from “The United States vs. Billie Holiday”.
What makes this picture even more intriguing is that it’s based on a true story that happened in Indiana more than a decade ago. Since its release, curiosity about the real-life events has surged, with many asking, where is the actual house where the paranormal incidents occurred?
The haunted house from ‘The Deliverance’: Where is it?
“The Deliverance” is inspired by the infamous Ammons haunting case, also known as the 200 Demons House or Demon House. This chilling story revolves around a haunting and demonic possession that took place in Gary, Indiana, in 2011.
Back then, Latoya Ammons, her mother, Rosa Campbell, and her three children reported unsettling paranormal activity in their new home, ranging from mysterious footsteps in the basement to levitation.
The story gained national attention in January 2014, revealing the exact location of the house—3860 Carolina Street in Gary, Indiana—as reported by various media outlets and detailed on the case’s Wikipedia page.
After months of terrifying experiences, the family sought help from Father Michael Maginot, who performed three exorcisms, two in English and one in Latin. Following these rituals, the Ammons family moved to Indianapolis, where the paranormal activity ceased.
As for the house itself, it was purchased in 2014 by Zak Bagans, host of the Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures. Two years later, he demolished the home, citing the overwhelming and inexplicable dark presence within it.
Bagans stated, “Something was inside that house that had the ability to do things that I have never seen before—things that others carrying the highest form of credibility couldn’t explain either. There was something there that was very dark, yet highly intelligent and powerful.”
