David Nicholls’s novel “One Day” will come back to life with a new adaptation by Netflix. However, this time the romantic drama will be told in a series format, which will allow more room to explore the epic 20-year relationship between Dexter and Emma.

The critically acclaimed novel was previously made into a film, also written by Nicholls, starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in 2011, which received mixed reviews. Now, the author is on board as an executive director, while Nicole Taylor (Wild Rose) is leading the writing.

Nicholls admitted that he didn’t want to write the series because he “felt like it needed a fresh pair of eyes, but it’s been bliss,” as he told Entertainment Tonight. If you’re ready to watch this emotional love story, here’s all you need to know.

One Day: When does the series premiere on Netflix?

One Day arrives on Netflix on Thursday, February 8th. The series follows Emma Morley and Dexter Mayhew. They “speak for the very first time” on 15th July 1988, the night of their graduation, before going their separate ways the next morning.

We will follow them every year on this particular date as they get older, “move together and apart, experience joy and heartbreak,” per the official synopsis.

Who is the cast of ‘One Day’?

Ambika Mod will star as Emma Morley, and Leo Woodall will play Dexter Mayhew. Mod is known for the BBC drama “This Is Going To Hurt,” while Woodall is recognized for his role in the second season of HBO’s “The White Lotus.”

How many episodes will One Day have?

There are 14 episodes in the drama. Mod told RadioTimes.com that she “really enjoyed the film, but I think a lot of people felt that – and I would agree – that an hour-and-a-half movie isn’t usually enough to dedicate to this epic novel that spans 20 years.”
