Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song) and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) have joined forces to create a romantic drama that closely resembles some classics of the genre. “Lonely Planet” arrived on Netflix‘s catalog on October 11.
The story is set in Morocco and follows writer Katherine Loewe, who encounters the adventurous Owen Brophy, a younger man with whom she embarks on an unexpected, passionate and transformative romance.
The new title from the streaming giant is a work by Susannah Grant, who has directed and written the project. The filmmaker is known for other successful productions, such as the films Erin Brockovich and The 5th Wave.
Could Lonely Planet get a sequel on Netflix?
Lonely Planet has just premiered in the Netflix catalog, and while it’s too soon to know if it will have a sequel, we could estimate that we are not really close to having a continuation of the film.
The drama explores the relationship between a reclusive novelist and a young man she meets at a writers’ retreat. Despite its intriguing premise, the ending has been quite clear and concludes in a way that could be considered fitting.
The reviews of the movie have been mixed. Some critics have praised it for the chemistry between Hemsworth and Dern, as well as its focus on themes of identity and self-acceptance within complicated relationships.
So far, neither of the two main actors has made any comment about a possible continuation, nor has the director. Therefore, the future of the romantic and dramatic production remains uncertain.
