After his time in Marvel as Doctor Strange and starring in some of Wes Anderson’s short films, it’s time for Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) to become the main star of a Netflix new limited series.
With the slogan “The real monsters aren’t under the bed”, the story will be loaded with mystery, drama, action, crime and plenty of suspense, especially as it somehow fits into the thriller genre.
The TV show is a creation of Abi Morgan (known for Shame and The Iron Lady with Meryl Streep), and the episodes of the first season have been directed by Lucy Forbes (The End of the F***ing World).
When is Eric’s miniseries coming to Netflix?
“Eric“, the new original Netflix miniseries, will be added to the streaming giant’s catalog during the course of Thursday, May 30th of this year, and all episodes will be released on the same day.
The six episodes that make up the first season of the drama follow Vincent, a grieving father whose son goes missing, who finds solace through his friendship with Eric, the monster living under Edgar’s bed.
The plot is set in the 1980s, with Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the lead role of Vincent. But, he won’t be the only talented star in the cast. On the contrary, the Marvel actor will be joined by Gaby Hoffmann and McKinley Belcher III.
Jane Featherstone is one of the many producers and during an interview with Tudum, said “When Abi first pitched ‘Eric’ to us, it gave us goosebumps. It’s an extraordinary piece of writing, inspired by Abi’s experience of New York in the mid-’80s, a city rotten to its core but on the cusp of change.”
