What is The Signal about?

The four-part miniseries begins in the morning when Paula and her colleague Hadi are scheduled to return to Earth after spending time aboard the International Space Station (ISS).

As they descend towards the ground, Paula hesitates to activate a button that will manually deploy their capsule’s parachutes, while Hadi pleads with her to reconsider. Eventually, she initiates the parachutes, but it becomes apparent that there are deeper underlying issues at play.

What are critics saying about The Signal?

Joel Keller from Decider wrote about the series: “The Signal does a good job of splitting its story into two storylines that are well-defined, bringing the viewer along on the show’s central mystery in a way that keeps them interested without jerking them around.”

Meanwhile, Elijah Gonzalez of Paste Magazine, wrote: “Over its brief four-episode runtime, The Signal does a fair amount right. It captures the familial love between its core characters, especially through its grounded depictions of loss, however “the series doesn’t ultimately pay off these out-of-this-world discoveries.”
