Ricky Stanicky is the new comedy on Prime Video that brought together multiple A-list stars in a wild adventure full of nostalgia and somewhat bizarre events. Zac Efron and John Cena are the ones who star in the most-watched movie.
Directed by Peter Farrelly, the story has captivated users not only globally but also in the United States, as it quickly became the number one film in multiple countries and in the American catalog just one day after its release.
The streaming giant’s original production has arrived to compete with other popular titles, but especially to bring back to the screen some of the most beloved actors in the industry, such as the High School Musical star.

Ricky Stanicky has finally debuted on the Prime Video catalog, and Zac Efron‘s much-anticipated comedy has become a huge success. It is currently the most-watched movie on the platform worldwide and in the United States.
According to Flix Patrol, the film has managed to surpass other productions in record time. Upgraded held the No. 1 spot in various countries for a long time, but not anymore, just like Five Nights at Freddy’s in the US.
The story follows three teenagers who play a prank, accidentally burning down a house in their neighborhood. To escape blame, they create a fake person to blame: Ricky Stanicky did it. Twenty years later, they’ve been using this alibi to get out of any situation.
As expected, laughter is abundant in this outgoing comedy. Efron showcases his talents for the genre and shines alongside John Cena, Andrew Santino, Riley Stiles, Jackie Flynn, Kevin J. Flynn, Brian Jarvis and Lex Scott Davis.
The movie was developed from an original screenplay by Jeffrey Bushell and Steve Oedekerk. Before the film came to fruition, the initial script had been included in the Black List of Best Unproduced Screenplays of 2010 (created by Franklin Leonard).
During an interview with CBR, the director Peter Farrelly confessed and talked about the particular challenges that come with directing comedy, unlike any other genre. There, he said:
“Honestly, the directing part — it’s similar! It’s not that different, directing drama or comedy. The hardest thing about comedy is writing that script, and it’s gotta be funny. You don’t have that pressure in a drama! It’s a different thing. And you don’t have to worry about feeling a certain joke working while you’re shooting it.
Once you have that script, then it’s just a joy to watch it come to life. I love it! To this day, I always pinch myself, that I’m making movies! I’ve never gotten used to that! I’m walking around the set, thinking, “I cannot believe I’m making a movie!”.
