Zac Efron shares message about health status after brief hospitalization

Zac Efron has reemerged on Instagram to confirm his health status after TMZ reported he was hospitalized in Spain. Here's the actor's update.

Actor Zac Efron took to Instagram on Sunday to reassure fans of his well-being following news of his hospitalization due to a swimming incident in Spain on August 2, which was first reported by TMZ.

“Happy and healthy,” Efron wrote in his Instagram story. “Thanks for the well wishes,” he added in the caption of a picture of himself doing exercise. The actor, who recently appeared in Netflix’s “A Family Affair,” appeared to be well.

The incident occurred on Friday night while Efron was using the pool at a villa in Ibiza. According to a representative for Efron, it was a “minor swimming incident,” and he was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Efron was released from the hospital on Saturday morning.

Efron’s representative also confirmed he is ‘fine’

While the first reports brought worry to fans of the actor, his representative also confirmed to People magazine that “He is fine.” Either way, the actor’s brief hospitalization and quick recovery have been met with relief from his fans, who were quick to send their support and well-wishes through social media.

Efron, known for his roles in films like “High School Musical,” “Baywatch,” and “The Greatest Showman,” has enjoyed a “renaissance” of late thanks to his acclaimed role in the drama “The Iron Claw,” which gave him award buzz (despite not gaining an Oscar nomination).

As Efron continues to recover, fans can look forward to seeing him back in action soon. The actor is set to appear in “Famous,” from director Jody Hill, who also directed “The Iron Claw.” The film is based on the 2010 novel of the same name by Blake Crouch.
