Crime horror films are a rare genre, but when they do appear, they often deliver engaging entertainment. Such is the case with “Dead Sea,” which, according to FlixPatrol, is trending on Netflix worldwide just hours after its release.

Directed by Phil Volken, the title shares several similarities with his previous work, “Extorsion”. If you enjoy the tense narrative of his most recent project, you might find this past production equally appealing.

Though critics haven’t been particularly generous in their reviews, Netflix users suggest that “Dead Sea” makes for a solid Sunday watch, especially if you enjoy pictures featuring inescapable situations set in the middle of the ocean.

‘Dead Sea’ is the fifth most-watched movie on Netflix worldwide

The more unusual the setting for a thriller, the more it captivates audiences—an observation that explains the success of “Dead Sea” on Netflix, where it currently ranks fifth worldwide.

In just a few hours, the movie surpassed titles like “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” and “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” both of which have dominated streaming in recent weeks. Now, “Dead Sea” faces stiff competition from “(Un)lucky Sisters” as it continues to climb the charts.

The story follows Kaya and her friends, whose jet ski adventure takes a disastrous turn, leading to a near-fatal accident. Just when it seems all hope is lost, they are rescued by a passing fishing trawler.

However, their savior soon reveals a sinister side, turning their rescue into a nightmare. Given the intense and disturbing nature of the flick, it’s advisable to check the IMDb parent guide before watching.

The cast includes rising stars Isabel Gravitt, Garrett Wareing, Alexander Wraith, Genneya Walton, and Koa Tom, who will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the film’s 90-minute runtime.
