All things K-pop remain a constant trend, and Netflix has tapped into that phenomenon with precision. With “Kpop Demon Hunters,” a musical fantasy film centered on a fictional girl group called Huntr/x who secretly live double lives as demon slayers, the streamer has captured the attention of global audiences.

Released on June 20 to positive reviews, the title was praised for its animation, visual style, voice acting, humor, and music. It quickly built a passionate fanbase eager to see more of Rumi, Mira, and Zoey. So, will there be more? Here is what the director had to say.

What’s Next for KPop Demon Hunters?

It’s no surprise that “KPop Demon Hunters” has drawn such a large audience, as the film was clearly made with care and passion. Directed by Maggie Kang, the movie was born from her desire to tell a story inspired by her Korean heritage. She wove together elements of mythology, demonology, and K-pop to create something that feels both culturally rooted and visually unique.

Naturally, Kang has been enthusiastic about discussing her creation and its future. In an interview with Screen Rant, she expressed interest in continuing the story, whether through a direct sequel or side stories that further expand the world of Huntr/x. She acknowledged that the picture left several questions unanswered and said, “There are a lot of pockets that we can explore.”

Given Netflix’s history of expanding its original projects into franchises, spin-offs, or series, it wouldn’t be surprising if “KPop Demon Hunters” followed a similar path. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the fact that Kang remains open—and excited—about revisiting this tale is a promising sign.
